Women are brilliant at looking after everyone else but when it comes to their own space, they often need a little nudge. For the past 4 years, we've been doing a little nudging by creating the perfect calming escapes in beautiful surroundings.  This retreat is being hosted at the stunning Ness gardens.

Described by our customers as a spa for the mind, body and soul, this is an opportunity for you to switch off and get back to nature.  With access to Ness gardens included, you'll leave feeling rested, relaxed and maybe a little energised for the year ahead.

What to expect

Getting here

Ahead of the day, you'll receive a reminder email complete with directions.

Meeting up

Arrive by 10am, kick off your shoes and get to know the other women over refreshments, overlooking the gorgeous Ness gardens.

There's no rush and as we lightly ease ourselves into the day, I'll talk through what to expect and explain the difference between mindfulness and meditation.

Guided Mindfulness

When everyone has settled in, we'll move into our first practice.  Relax on our thick meditation mats under a lovely blanket and just allow yourself to be guided by the soothing voice of your host.

We'll look at how our busy minds take away our peace and you'll be guided through a simple practice that illustrates just how you can settle your mind and emotions.

If you've ever been intrigued by the constant flow of information on self care and gratitude, you may be fascinated to learn that scientists have researched the power of kindness and self talk.  Learn about the recent discoveries before experiencing your own guided kindness practice.

Before we depart, we'll reflect on the day and follow a guided visualisation to set our intentions for the year ahead.

Refreshments

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Garden Access

The retreat price includes access to the beautiful gardens, and we'll set an hour aside, so you can explore this magical space for yourself.

There's no better teacher than nature.   When we pause to take a look, it offers us great beauty throughout the seasons.  I found this beautiful picture of the snowdrops, courtesy of trip advisor.

There'll be an hour to explore before or after lunch, and as we aim to finish between 3 and 3.30, you can head off to the gardens again before you leave.

More Details

Why mindfulness?

Mindfulness has been a feature of Eastern culture for thousands of years.  We are all born with the capacity to be mindful but somewhere along the way our busy minds take over.

Mindfulness is a gentle way of approaching our experience which unfolds uniquely for each of us. It allows us to start where we are, and go at our own pace simply working with the edges.

Typical benefits

  • Learning to take time out can have an immediate impact on our well being and sleep patterns.
  • We can learn to  balance our emotions and experience more happiness in our lives.
  • Getting less caught up in stress impacts our immune system, our well being and can even influence our sleep patterns.
  • You are guided in a safe and supported environment that encourages  compassion around all experiences.  This brings benefits to ourselves and those we interact with.
  • Mindfulness practice can rewire the connections between the threat system and the executive function giving us greater control over our reactions.

The Experience

  • Allow from 10 - 3.30 for the full experience
  • You will learn the basics of mindfulness, the importance of tuning into our body and the science of emotional balance and kindness.
  • There will be a guided body scan practice and a guided compassion practice.
  •  The experience includes an opportunity to talk through your experience and enjoy light refreshments with like minded people.
  • Practices are usually done lying down, contact us if you have any special requirements.

Meet your guide

When I was sitting at my desk in 2017, wondering if I was destined to just "make do" with a career I didn't like, I could never have imagined how much mindfulness was about to change my life.  In fact at that point, I hadn't even heard of it.  Yet, many years on, it's helped me to work with stress, deal with narcissism and to live each day in colour.

My retreat days are designed to bring that experience to you.  A sense of inner and outer calm that isn't always available in the hustle and bustle of life.

For those of you who want to go a little deeper, I also run courses, offer an app of my practices and as of 2025, I'm the best selling author of The Emotional Hustle.  This is the book that proves that life can change for anyone, whether they're expecting it or not!
